Space at ETH Zurich
ETH Zurich is involved in many space-related projects and frequently collaborates with top-tier players in the global space ecosystem. Collaborations and contributions cover both scientific and technological aspects and include fields such as astrophysics, earth observation, navigation systems, robotics and many more.
ETH Zürich | Space has been created with the purpose of building synergies between space activities at ETH Zurich, boosting their visibility, and providing support for project planning, funding generation, and consortia building. External entities are welcome to get in touch with us to foster collaboration.

Business incubation program for startups with a "space connection". With ESA and a large partner network, ESA BIC CH offers an extensive support package plus 200k EUR. A team at ETH has the lead.
SXS is the platform for the promotion of space. EPFL is the leading house and ETH is one of four partners. SXS can help to bring your technology early in line with the ESA roadmap (contact Deborah below).
Student space association led by ETH students, working on rockets, cubesats, propulsion systems, and other space related projects.
Swiss Committee on Space Research (CSR), part of the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT), coordinates and stimulates space research in Switzerland. ETH is a member of the committee.

Space research at ETH is done by the individual institutes, labs, and professors. Hence, they have to be contacted directly. ETH Zürich | Space does not carry out any projects itself and therefore does not offer any diploma theses or research positions.

The new M.Sc. program in Space Systems at ETH Zurich is set to start in summer 2024and is aimed at students holding a B.Sc. in engineering, physics, and related scientific disciplines. We are trying our best to provide comprehensive details, including the curriculum and enrolment procedure, by January 2024. If you are looking for a job opportunity in space, a table with job offers in Switzerland will soon be posted in the ETH Zürich | Space member area. ETH Zürich | Space currently does not offer any job opportunities and does not organize any industrial internships. All upcoming vacancies at ETH Zürich I Space are officially advertised on the ETH Zürich Job Portal.
If you are interested in developing a research topic, contact the relevant ETH institutes directly. Here is the link to all departments, and for example, to the institutes list of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT), Physics (D-PHYS), Earth Sciences (D-ERDW), Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (D-ITET), and Computer Science (D-INFK). Further opportunities might also be available within one of the competence centres. The brochure above offers a few examples of ETH groups doing space research.
